Autism Spectrum Counseling
Asperger’s and Autism Spectrum Counseling focuses on fostering emotional safety and working patiently and lovingly with children, adolescents and adults (and their families).
Approximately 1 in 59 children in the U.S. have some form of autism. Treatment for Autism Spectrum Conditions at Oregon Counseling focuses on three major challenges:
- Difficulty with social interaction
- Challenges with verbal and non-verbal communication
- Tendency towards repetitive behaviors or narrow/obsessive interests
By utilizing supportive counseling, art work, written projects, play therapy, social practice and a lot of patience, we help clients develop a ‘social story’ and a new ‘life instructional manual’ that fosters greater integration in the world in a safe and meaningful way.
Every case of autism is unique. An approach that works for some, may not necessarily work for others. At Oregon Counseling, our therapists take the time to get to know each individual. Our therapists are devoted to giving each individual the best support.
Oregon Counseling also provides supportive family counseling for family members dealing with a child who has an autistic spectrum condition.
